Pollen allergy, here's how you can defend yourself

Spring is a season popular with many people, as the days get longer, the temperatures are milder and the plants bloom, but if you suffer from pollen allergy, all of this can become a real nightmare.

But how can you defend yourself from all this? In this guide you will be given some very useful tips to enjoy your days outdoors in all serenity!

What are the symptoms of pollen allergy?

Pollen allergy can manifest itself through the following symptoms: stuffy nose, itchy eyes, watery eyes, continuous cough, inflammation of the mucous membranes, runny nose and frequent sneezing.

In some cases, severe breathing difficulties may occur and it is necessary to take antihistamine medications prescribed by the doctor.

How to defend yourself from pollen allergy

There are several methods to combat pollen allergy, including:

  • - reduce or avoid exposure to pollen as much as possible: even if it seems a trivial concept, it is not at all, as it allows you to drastically reduce symptoms;
  • - stay indoors when pollen concentrations in the air are particularly high.

To monitor them, just download the appropriate App for free on your smartphone;

  • - often dust the domestic environments to avoid the accumulation of dust and pollen;
  • - do not smoke inside your home so as not to irritate the mucous membranes of the eyes, throat and nose.

This way you will avoid amplifying the symptoms of pollen allergy;

  • - avoid consuming foods capable of activating pollen allergy such as melon, apples and tomatoes, as they contain a protein capable of triggering this problem;
  • - practice regular sporting activity indoors, in order to strengthen the immune system;
  • - take a shower before going to bed to eliminate allergens deposited on the skin during the day;
  • - change the clothes you wear daily so as not to come into contact with the allergens that have settled on it;
  • - reduce stressful situations and activities;
  • - buy special anti-inflammatory supplements available at any pharmacy;
  • - consult the flowering calendars;
  • - avoid walking in the meadows where the grass has recently been cut;
  • - keep in mind that the days in which the highest concentration of pollen occurs are the sunny, windy and dry ones;
  • - in the house and in the car install an air conditioner, as it is capable of decreasing the concentration of pollen inside the environment;
  • - avoid gardening between 10 am and 16 pm, as a higher concentration of pollen occurs during this phase of the day.

When you are about to perform this activity, also remember to wear a special mask;

  • - during the day wear a pair of dark sunglasses to protect your eyes;
  • - avoid hanging the laundry outdoors, as it would immediately become a prey to pollen;
  • - reduce or avoid the consumption of alcoholic beverages, because they dilate blood vessels and stimulate the production of mucus, thus worsening nasal congestion.
